The Herb Ahava Team has made the difficult decision to pause our 2027 program offerings.
We’re grateful for your patience and understanding during this time.
We’ll return in 2028 with our Online & Outdoor Programs, along with the debut of our new Clinical Herbalist Program!
Applications open September 2027. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding.

Wild Tennessee Outdoor Exploration Program
Herb Ahava's comprehensive 200 hour Holistic Herbalism Program is divided into two parts:
Wild Tennessee Outdoor Exploration, and our
Online Holistic Herbalism Foundations Programs.
Take one program section at a time, or both sections together for a fully immersive herbal experience!
No previous herbal knowledge or experience is required as we will introduce you to a unique integrative Classical Five Element model to guide your view & understanding of botanical medicine and the human body.
Completion of both program sections fulfills requirements for a 200 Hour Herbalism Certificate.
Dive Deeper
Our Wild Tennessee Outdoor Program offers a transformative journey into integrative herbal medicine across the diverse bioregions of Tennessee and North Carolina. Over the course of 8 months, Dr. Finkelstein & guest teachers will guide you through interactive classes that span all Five Seasons (winter, spring, early summer, late summer, and autumn), delving into Classical Five Element theory and its effects on the body and nature throughout the year, all in alignment with Appalachian medicine traditions!

Explore the world of plant medicine as we study over 120 unique & uncommon botanicals -focusing on plant energetics and therapeutic actions. The program includes hands-on work in beginner botany, plant identification, human physiology, sustainable foraging, medicine making, herbal gardening and harvesting, regenerative land practices, herbal safety and drug interactions, family medicine, herbal first aid, and valuable insights from experienced practitioners & farmers.

To enhance your learning, each student will receive seeds, transplants, and harvested plants to create a personal garden and/or apothecary. Weekends will be devoted to preparing herbal remedies, discovering the mountain, meadow, and river landscapes, and experiencing the varied climates of Eastern Tennessee and North Carolina. Spring & Autumn campouts cap our program with exciting bonus class opportunities & field trips!
